Did you know that Ria Formosa hosts the largest community of seahorses in the world? That seahorses take as much as an hour to cover a metre? Observe this uncommon – almost magical - species in its natural habitat.
The voyage is made by boat over the lagoon. On the way, you may spot other species, such as octopus, cuttlefish and sea-cucumbers, as well as witness traditional shell-fishing techniques.
In order to observe the two resident species (long and short snouted seahorses), we go snorkelling (without air-tanks) in the lagoon. The skipper helps in identifying and explaining the behaviours of these rather weird animals.
Should you not have your own diving-mask and snorkel, you will be loaned a pair.
Boat trip, 2 hours, leaving from Fuseta, from €40 per person. For further
information and reservations, please contact us by e-mail or at the reception desk.
